VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CLEARANCE INFORMATION
All PA Camp Vent Volunteers 18 years of age and older who have direct contact with children because they provide care, supervision, guidance or control of children, or have routine interaction with children, are required to complete the following clearances:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING PA CHILD ABUSE CLEARANCE AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS:
If you do not have a recent child abuse clearance (after 01/01/14),
We require all prospective staff to complete an 8-minute safety training video and exam. You may watch the video and take the exam until you pass. Camper safety is taken very seriously by us at PA Vent Camp. Please show us that you take it seriously too. Use the login information below to access the video and exam.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING A CRIMINAL HISTORY FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE
The form can be obtained here.
Click on Submit a New Record Check (Volunteers) then click on the check box and the Accept button on the next page, complete the information on the page, click next and submit it electronically. You will receive the results instantly (in a few seconds) on the computer if your record is completely clear. If your record is under review the turnaround time is 2-3 weeks. Save the form and email or mail a copy to us.
FOR VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE BEEN A RESIDENT OF PENNSYLVANIA FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS
Please print out and complete this affidavit. Please have it witnessed and forward it to us at volunteers@paventcamp.org.
FOR VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN A RESIDENT OF PENNSYLVANIA FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS
You MUST obtain an FBI fingerprint check.
If currently residing in or near Pennsylvania, you can register online at this site. Click on the IdentoGo site icon to start the process. Once registered, you may walk‐in during a location’s posted hours of operation, but scheduling an appointment may lead to lesser/no wait times.
If you do not live near Pennsylvania, you will need to identify how you can obtain an FBI fingerprint check in your area. This can be performed by FBI approved channelers. One of the largest available services can be found here. A full list of FBI approved channelers can be found here. The cost is $50.00
INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPETE TRAINING ON RECOGNIZING AND REPORTING CHILD ABUSE
If you obtained/renewed your Pennsylvania professional license this year, you will not have to perform this step because completing a training course is part of the renewal process.
If you do not possess a Pennsylvania professional license please go to this site sign in with your email address and name. View the 2 modules and complete the examination. You must score 85% or greater to pass the exam. You may retake the exam if needed. We will be able to track who has completed the course and passed the test. Again, it MUST be completed in order for you to attend camp
VOLUNTEERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS
Do not need to obtain child abuse or criminal background check clearances.

- Child Abuse History Clearance from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (after 01/01/2014)
- Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (after 01/01/2014)
- Volunteers who have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the past 10 years Must swear/affirm that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under #6344.
Such volunteers will not be required to obtain FBI Clearance - If volunteers do not satisfy the 10-year residency exemption they must receive clearance through the FBI fingerprint check.
