Volunteer Background Clearance Information...

Having fun is important, but safety is and always will be the number one priority of PA Vent Camp.
All PA Camp Vent volunteers 18 years of age and older who have direct contact with children because they provide care, supervision, guidance or control of children, or have routine interaction with children, are required to complete clearances listed below. Volunteers under the age of 18 do NOT need to obtain child abuse or criminal background check clearance.

  • Child Abuse History Clearance from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (after 01/01/2017)
  • Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (after 01/01/2017).
  • Volunteers who have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the past 10 years must swear/affirm that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under #6344. Such volunteers will not be required to obtain FBI Clearance
    • If volunteers do not satisfy the 10-year residency exemption, they must receive clearance through the FBI fingerprint check.
  • Training on recognizing and reporting child abuse

On the registration form, you will be asked to provide dates of completion for each clearance. Please keep a personal record of your clearance.
If you have questions about obtaining any of the clearances, please contact volunteers@paventcamp.org.

Please print out and complete this affidavit. Please have it witnessed and forward it to us at volunteers@paventcamp.org.
FBI Finger Print Check
For volunteers who have NOT resided in PA for 10 consecutive years.

If currently residing in or near Pennsylvania, you can register online at this site. Click on the IdentoGo site icon to start the process. Once registered, you may walk‐in during a location’s posted hours of operation, but scheduling an appointment may lead to lesser/no wait times.

If you do not live near Pennsylvania, you will need to identify how you can obtain an FBI fingerprint check in your area. This can be performed by FBI approved channelers. One of the largest available services can be found here. A full list of FBI approved channelers can be found here. The cost is approximately $50.00
Child Abuse Training
This is a training on recognizing and reporting child abuse. If you obtained/renewed your Pennsylvania professional license this year, you do not have to perform this step because completing a training course is part of the renewal process.

If you do not possess a Pennsylvania professional license please go to this site sign in with your email address and name. View the 2 modules and complete the examination. You must score 85% or greater to pass the exam. You may retake the exam if needed. We will be able to track who has completed the course and passed the test. Again, it MUST be completed in order for you to attend camp
